Sun Island

This  morning we went to Sun Island.  It is a scenic area that lies on the north side of the Songhua River. It has three main areas; Animals, Gardens and Ice. Polar land which we visited yesterday is part of the animals section.

Here is Emma in her element feed the deer by hand in the animals area

The gardens are very beautiful

There are a number of rides throughout the park.  Most wouldn't let Gia ride.  However, she and Emma got to ride the tea cups

As I think I mentioned before, Harbin is noted for their ice festival in the winter. The Ice Sculpture Garden displays many awarded works in the Harbin International Snow Sculpture Art Expo. So you ask how do you see them in the summer when the temperature is 90 degrees.  Well, in the Ice and Snow Art Hall.  It is the largest indoor display ice sculpture in the world.

Getting ready to go into the ice sculpture garden in the summer takes some preparation.  We had to put on leggings, and heavy coats.  We were sweltering while everyone was getting ready.  It may have been the first time ever I wanted to get into a freezing room.

Emma modeling her stunning ensemble.   Note there are no pictures of Molly because she is the photographer.  (and didn't want her picture taken)

And Gia the Burrito

Following are a number of pictures of the frozen art.
